New Vegan SA foodstuffs volunteer

We are delighted that Linda Simelane has joined us as a Foodstuffs Manager; she will begin by researching breakfast cereals and biscuits/rusks/cookies.
“I lead my life as a new vegan convert – one month now, I embrace the universe as my source of strength and Africanism as my roots and foundation of my being, and follow Rastafari as my source of spiritual fulfillment. I was vegetarian for a few years and have wanted to go vegan, would try for a few days then somehow fall. This happened ever since I was a vegetarian, somehow it seemed challenging, I waited for the calling and it came just recently and I am excited.
. I wish to call myself a 110% Vegan Queen one day, I do know I am not there yet.
Part-time and on weekends I do arts – writing, poetry and music. I organize live performance shows around my neighborhood called Pheli Rock, to help grow local artists and give them a platform to express themselves artistically. I also help out in the charity homes around my hood whenever I can.
I have an active 8 year old boy who is not vegan yet and always talks about one day he is going to become one. I became vegetarian when he was about 4, so he couldn’t tap into the vegetarian world immediately given that I was not staying home full time and was the only vegetarian, just like I am the only vegan. He loves veggies and fruit like crazy, I do explain to him the importance of leading a vegan life and feel that I don’t want to pressurize him into it as no one did that to me. I do hope and wish that one day he becomes one.
I am looking forward to leading my life this way, it’s so refreshing and wish for a partner who lives likewise, and to grow my family in this manner. I believe the universe will be happy…
